We support Ukraine
While looking for a way to support the people of Ukraine, we came across Dmitry. Since September 2022, we have been working closely with his manufactory in Ukraine.
While looking for a way to support the people of Ukraine, we came across Dmitry. Since September 2022, we have been working closely with his manufactory in Ukraine.
In order to help not only individuals, but a larger group, we decided to donate 5% of the proceeds to a local organization. The aid organization “Rescue Now”
was recommended to us by Dmitry because his cousin works here. “Rescue Now” helps with evacuation, buys food & medicine and takes care of people in need.
The war in Ukraine continues unabated. The extent of the destruction and the humanitarian situation in the country are catastrophic. People are desperate, millions have fled. About 6.3 million Ukrainians are refugees in their own country. About half of the refugees are children. Shelling and bombardment continue unabated. Many children and adults also suffer from the psychological consequences of violence, flight and fears about the future and need help in acute need – but also in the long term.
Many companies have withdrawn their orders due to the uncertain economic situation in the country. But we think that right now all support counts, and have actively decided to partner with Dmitry and Ukraine.
Dmitry, can you give us an insight into the current circumstances in your factory?
“Our factory is located in the city of Bohodudiv near the Russian border. In the first months of the Russian invasion, the area around Bohoduhiv was also attacked, forcing many people to leave their homes or join the army. Meanwhile, the Russians have withdrawn in this area and we feel safe. This allows us to resume our work. This is especially important for my team because we are trying to bring a new “everyday life” into this new situation for us.
We are often affected by power outages due to electricity shortages in our area. We have now installed a generator. We operate our heating with wood or coal, so we are not dependent on gas or central heating.”
“My manufactory currently consists of 39 employees and we produce handmade leather products. We only use high-quality, LWG-certified genuine leather originating in Ukraine. Thus, we also support our local partners. The certification of the Leather Working Group means non-pollutant quality and good animal husbandry. We produce all products to order and thus avoid overproduction.”
Our cooperation means a lot to me and my team. Through our cooperation, we can pay our team salaries and give them a perspective in difficult times. Thanks to the donation of 5% of the sales proceeds for each of our products to the aid organization, help is also organized nationwide.
